Our goal at Wendt Ranches has always been to produce predictable , profitable, red hided, heat tolerant genetics that perform both on the hoof & the rail.

Wendt Ranch began in 1909 with R.A. Wendt registering the “combination S” brand in Matagorda County and starting with crossbred cattle. In 1954, Dan Wendt and his father R.A., formed “R.A. Wendt & Son” herd #612 in the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International registry and immediately began keeping performance records. This has promoted confident choices, regarding the direction of our herd, as well as the likely future of our cattle in other herds. In 1969, Dan’s dad, R.A. passed away. It was then, they dissolved the “R.A. Wendt & Son” partnership and transitioned to “Wendt Ranch”. From the 1970’s-2000’s, Dan and his wife, Jane exported cattle internationally, largely due to their robust performance records and legacy of strong herd sires. Together, they sold cattle to breeders in Argentina, Brazil, Morocco, Australia, Russia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Zimbawe, and throughout the United States. The ranch has produced some of the breed’s most well known herd sires over the years, starting with Superman and Crackerjack. In the late ‘80’s and 90’s, Dan and Jane’s daughter, Nancy Wendt Kubecka and her husband, Gene, produced Buckeye and Partner: their son, Daniel Kubecka was the breeder of Sheriff, who’s offspring continue to show up on pedigrees of today’s top-performing animals, and daughter Jenna Kubecka Sneed’s bull Gangster produced Wendt’s All Star bull. Today, we utilize genomics testing and a robust AI program to accelerate and realize performance targets year after year.
In 2016, Dan and Jane sold the cattle operation to son-in-law and daughter, Gene and Nancy Kubecka, and grandson, Daniel and his wife Lauren Kubecka, along with their daughters Kinsley, Laney and Callie. Wendt Ranch is now in its fourth generation of operation. The fifth generation, Kinsley Kubecka has begun showing and competed in her first National Jr show last summer.
In 2021 an American Red herd was added to the operation s well as a small, but elite, Red Angus program. Today, we utilize genomics testing and a robust AI program to accelerate and realize performance targets year after year.
